Fall Elk!

To say the least this year has not gone as I had originally planned. Not getting to open the gallery was tough, as was sheltering in place, because as a photographer I just want to be out and about. The summer went by amazingly fast and before I knew it, it was fall. I love fall because the antlered animals shed their velvet and show off their hard antlers and are soon ready for the rut.

One of my favorite animals to photograph in the fall is elk. They are so much fun because they always seem to be awake and protecting their harem from other smaller bull elk that are trying to sneak in and get lucky. I love action photography, and elk definitely provide the action in the fall. Twila and I had a great time with the elk this year and got some really great photos. One of the most memorable days was a very foggy morning, and a very large bull elk was very active and bugling a lot in the fog. Fog can be very tricky to photograph correctly and it has to be jus the right amount of fog for the animal to still be able to be seen in the fog. To say the least, it’s not that common for the correct elements to all come together, but we got it on our trip! Enjoy the photos!
